6 Reasons to Get Your Butt Out of The House This Holiday Season
With the Holiday season right around the corner, we understand that the pressure at work can get overwhelming. There are a lot of uncertainties and we aren’t quite sure what to expect this winter, but DSH wants to help keep the Holiday magic alive! Here are some creative ideas for you to get your butt out of the house, (socially distanced, of course) and network the rest of 2020 away!
- The Austin Marathon (February 14th, 2021)
We know this might be a bit of a stretch and not quite the cheery activity you were looking for, but it’s time you make up for all those hours sitting at your desk (or laying in bed with your computer on your lap). This could be the sign you’ve been looking for to finally check off that “run a marathon” box on your bucket list! The Austin Marathon takes place on February 14th, so this is the perfect time to start! Not only will it be a huge accomplishment, but exercise is a great way to produce endorphins, improve the ability to sleep, and reduce stress. All things we desperately need right now! The best part of the race? The finish line will have a rock band and beer garden! Now, lace up those tennis shoes and bring home the gold! Sorry, we still have PTSD from the summer Olympics being postponed this year.
2. Seasonal Coffee and Cocktails with Friends (Cosmic Coffee + Beer Garden)
We can always use an excuse to go out for drinks with friends and if you agree with us then Cosmic Coffee and Beer Garden is the place for you. Not only do they have the coziest winter cocktails, but food trucks galore on the weekends! They even decorate their outdoor patio to bring that Holiday magic to life! Also, we checked to make sure it was animal friendly (for all the pet parents out there) who know their little guys could use a night out as well!
3. She Works Business Mixer (DK Maria’s Legendary Tex-Mex 1807 West Slaughter Lane Austin, TX 78748)
She Works Austin is hosting their Monthly Business Mixer, but for the ladies only! Sorry boys, this one is designed for women entrepreneurs who want to grow their business and network with some other badass women. This month it will be in South Austin and hosted by the lovely Candace Perez! The event takes place on December 1st from 6 pm-8 pm. You won’t want to miss out on this girl's night out! The perfect time to meet some other inspiring business women of Austin, hear some motivational business presentations, and take part in their famous raffle and Door prizes!
4. Peppermint Parkway Holiday Lights Display (9201 Circuit of the Americas Blvd, Austin, TX 78617)
This year, the Circuit of the Americas is starting a new tradition. And yes it is a Social Distanced friendly event, a drive-thru holiday experience to be exact. This will include millions of twinkling lights synchronized to holiday songs, dancing elves, and more! The best part is the only walk you’ll have to make is from your house to the car! So, between Nov 27th and Dec 27th, grab the family, friends, coworkers, and some hot cocoa to-go!
5. Good Old Fashion Spa Day
We know how hard you work and we think it's about time to unplug and enjoy that overdue spa! Studies show that massage therapy reduces stress, can improve sleep, helps with pain management, and even strengthens your immune system. This is a great way to get out of the house, away from your busy work life, and simply enjoying a little “me time”. And if it makes you feel better, we can call this a Holiday gift to yourself.
6. Live Music at The White Horse (500 Comal St, Austin, TX 78702)
Your eardrums will definitely thank you for this one, after the tireless hours full of conference calls and meetings. The White Horse has live music 7 days a week and some very special shows during the holiday season. You can enjoy them with a cold glass of beer and a taco truck! What better place to socialize and network, while enjoying some great music? You can check out their live music calendar on the White Horse website now! Tickets can go for as low as $5! The perfect night out with friends and family!
As much as we love to be in the comfort of our own homes, it is still vital for us to get out of the house and stay active physically and socially. There is no better time to do that than the holiday season. It is during this time of year that we feel most encouraged to be there for one another and we couldn’t think of better events than those listed above. We hope you gained some inspiration, from this month’s blog, to get your butt out of the house and enjoy this holiday season the best you can!
